Ammonia removed in ST-W stripping processes ceases to represent an environmental liability and gains added value. Nitrogen is a widely used input as a fertilizer in agriculture. In this context, AD-W absorption columns were developed to capture ammonia in the gaseous phase from wastewater treatment. In this process, nitrogen is converted into ammonium sulfate ((NH₄)₂SO₄), a concentrated liquid fertilizer, enabling its direct use in agricultural applications or its commercialization, adding value to the treatment process.
